SATURDAY IS THE LAST DAY FOR THIS YEAR’S SCHUYLKILL COUNTY FAIR; “A Family Fun Day”

PRESS RELEASE – The day starts early at 11 AM with registration for the Antique Tractor Pull which starts the day. The Fair officially opens to the public at 11AM with the ID ME program presented by the Schuylkill County Sheriff’s Department. Protect your children by enrolling them in this very valuable program provided free by the Sheriff Department. Rides also open at 11AM and are presented by Goodtimes Amusements out of Hellertown, PA. The activities are just beginning for families where they can work together to try to build the tallest tower out of rolled up newspaper in the Tower of Power Contest.
Walk with the Tractor Parade as it makes its way through the fairgrounds with a theme of Family Fun. Continue the family fun with various interactive exhibits running throughout Saturday. Bring along your small family pet and have it compete in the Pocket Pet Contest. Make a catapult and enter it into the contest to see how far a marshmallow will travel through the air. Sit and rest a little with Big Owl around a campfire on Bear Creek Island and learn about the local Indian inhabitants of the area. Have the younger family members participate in the Kids Hay Bale Toss. Relay eggs with family members in an egg relay race. Participate in the Potato Sack Race. See how far you can spit a watermelon seed and then enjoy a fresh slice of watermelon when done. Scramble for pennies and candy. Hear stories during Story Time in the Farming for A Day Area. Listen to the Schuylkill County Idols Then you might want to settle down in a chair to watch Brandon Bennett, the Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist. You may just want to extend the fun for the day by moving to the grove of a few of the King’s tunes.
Visual Opportunities for Saturday include Antique Tractor Pull, ID Me child Identification Program, Tower of Power contest, Tractor Parade, Pocket Pet Contest, Catapult Craft/ Contest, Big Owl Indian Lore, Kids Hay Bale Toss, Egg Relay, Water Melon Seed Spitting contest, Potato Sack Race, Story Time, Candy and Penny Scramble, Schuylkill County Idol, Brandon Bennett, Elvis Impersonator, Johnny Peers & Muttville Comix, Peggy Hentz of “Red Creek Wildlife Rehabilitation Center”, Kids Area Activities, Schuylkill Talent Showcase – McCormic School of Irish Dance, Todd Gladfelder, chain saw artist, Porcupine Pat – Naturalist, Farming for A Day and Ag Detective Activities.

3 PM – Big Owl Indian Lore (Bear Creek Island)
3:30 PM – Kids Hay Bale Toss, ages 5 –10 (Kid’s Area)
