HOUSE DESTROYED BY FAST-MOVING FIRE IN SUMMIT HILL; (VIDEO)

Fire, Bugsy's Hill, SR902, Summit Hill, 8-8-2014 (34)A house was destroyed during a fast-moving fire today (Friday, August 8, 2014) in Summit Hill.
About a dozen fire companies were called to battle a heavily-engulfed structure fire just off Laurel Drive “Bugsy’s Mountain” (SR902) in Summit Hill shortly after 12 PM today.
The unlived-in structure is located about a quarter-mile south of the White Bear Drive intersection.
Officials on scene stated the fenced-in house, with adjacent pool, was primarily used for gatherings and other social events. They added that is owned by Peter Radocha of Coaldale.
Witnesses said the smoke could be seen for miles.

Responding were Summit Hill Fire Company, Lansford Fire Company, Mahoning Valley Fire Company, Coaldale Fire Company, East Penn Fire Company, New Columbus Fire Company, Franklin Fire Company, Penn Forest Fire Company, Hauto Fire Company, Nesquehoning Fire Company, Jim Thorpe Fire Company, East End Fire Company (Tamaqua), and Citizen’s Fire Company (Tamaqua). Lehighton was moved up to cover Jim Thorpe, Penn Forest and Nesquehoning.
Fire, Bugsy's Hill, SR902, Summit Hill, 8-8-2014 (51)Also responding were Summit Hill Police, Lehighton Ambulance, and Mahoning Valley Ambulance (who served as rehab).
Summit Hill Fire Police volunteers controlled traffic during the incident.
In addition to Mahoning Valley Ambulance, members of the Tamaqua Salvation Army provided cold tea and water. Refreshments were donated via the Tamaqua Volunteers community initiative group and Switchback Mini-Mart in Summit Hill.
The cause of the fire is unknown as of Friday evening. A fire marshal was called to respond.
No injuries were reported.
