As of 12:50 PM, firefighters are on scene of downed power lines hanging on a vehicle in Walker Township. An emergency responder said that a single-phase 7,200 volt wire is draped over a vehicle in the area of Shady Lane, near Swamp Road, with a grandmother and 5-year-old child.
A fallen tree pulled down the lines as the vehicle was driving by.
Jordan Hoffman, Captain, Walker Township/New England Fire Company, said they are telling the occupants of the vehicle to stay inside the vehicle as a precaution.
PPL is on scene, with members of Tamaqua Rescue Squad, Walker Township/New England Fire Company, and Tamaqua Ambulance.
This was one of many downed wires or poles throughout our area. Power was off for a couple hours while crews repaired the lines.
Stay tuned for more information.
UPDATE: Both occupants (Nicki Feliciano and her 5-year-old grandson) were freed from the vehicle around 1:15 PM. No injuries were reported.
