PEACE POLE DEDICATION HELD IN TAMAQUA ON INTERNATIONAL PEACE DAY

Peace Pole Dedication, Tamaqua Boy Scout, Train Station lot, Tamaqua, 9-21-2015 (17)A dedication program was held on September 21, 2015 for a Peace Pole installed recently along SR309 at the North Railroad Street/Train Station parking by Tamaqua Boy Scout Bradley McAloose from Tamaqua Troop 777.
There are tens of thousands of Peace Poles in 180 countries all over the world dedicated as monuments to peace.
McAloose has been working toward earning his Eagle Scout goal for many years. He has researched Peace Poles and decided since world peace is an important issue for himself, the boy scouts, the community and the world, to erect a Peace Pole and dedicate it to the community of Tamaqua. The pole will be registered with the International Peace Pole Society for the world to view.
The pole displays the message “May Peace Prevail on Earth” in four different languages: English, German, Italian and Gaelic.
– ENGLISH: “May Peace Prevail On Earth”
– GERMAN: “Möge Friede auf Erden sein”
– ITALIAN: “Che la pace regni sulla terra”
– IRISH GAELIC: “Go Raibh Síocháin Ar Somhain”
McAloose said he believes the Peace Pole will be a constant reminder for the community to represent a peaceful attitude regarding any situation they may face, adding that each pole serves as constant reminders for us to visualize and pray for world peace.
