A few volunteers with the Tamaqua Volunteers community initiative group spent a good part of a day last month sorting through and cleaning out two large storage containers filled with tons of unwanted giveaway items. Some of the better items were given to a local non-profit group in Schuylkill County. All the other items were disposed of via twelve trips to the Tamaqua Transfer Station. Volunteers paid to rent a box truck, donated by the volunteers, due to the amount of items.
The community giveaways were stopped last month due to the lack of item donations. (Story)
Special appreciations were given to Tamaqua Transfer Station who didn’t charge for disposal, and M & M Self Storage/Thorns Cycles who didn’t charge for the storage containers.
Volunteers were Wandie Zammer-Little, Eric Becker, Frankie Latham, and Andrew Leibenguth.
