Pictured last month are photos from inspectors checking the Wabash Creek tunnel that runs under West Broad Street (US209) in Tamaqua. Major “road bridge” repairs along the first block of West Broad Street are expected to start sometime in late 2017 or early 2018. Until then, PennDOT requires routine bridge/tunnel inspections roughly every six months or sooner.
A past inspection deemed the 20-foot road bridge structurally deficient, with a culv rating at critical.
