FOUR PEOPLE TAKEN TO HOSPITAL FOLLOWING VEHICLE ACCIDENT IN WEST PENN (August 12, 2015)

4 People Injured, MVA, Clamtown Road, SR443, West Penn, 8-12-2015 (22)Four people were taken to the hospital yesterday (Wednesday, August 12, 2015) following a two-vehicle accident on Clamtown Road (SR443) in West Penn Township. The incident was one of three vehicle accidents that occurred around the same time.
Shortly after 4 PM, emergency responders were at first called to two separate accidents, one on the Hometown Hill (SR309) and another along SR443 in the area in front of the entrance to the West Penn Rod and Gun Club in West Penn Township.
The incident on the Hometown Hill was a bad fender bender between two vehicles that occurred around 84 Claremont Avenue in Rush Township. Both vehicles were staged along Taggertsville Road (Tuscarora Park Road). One or both vehicles had to be towed away. No serious injuries were observed. Responding were Rush Township Police, Hometown Fire Company and Hometown Fire Police.
Officials said the incident in West Penn Township involved two-vehicles and occurred when a vehicle traveling north on Clamtown Road swerved into the southbound lane, causing another vehicle to swerve to miss the vehicle, crashing into a mail box at 1051 Clamtown Road. No major injuries were observed. Responding were West Penn Fire Company, West Penn Police and numerous ambulance crews.
The third, and worst accident, occurred shortly after, when an elderly driver traveling north on Clamtown Road, did not notice the slowed vehicles traveling north past the accident scene and crashed into the rear of the last in line. The second accident on Clamtown Road resulted in 4 people being taken to the hospital. Responding were West Penn Fire Company, West Penn Police and numerous ambulance crews.
No more information is known.
