A Tamaqua man won $300,000 on a $30 rub-off PA lottery ticket he purchased yesterday (Thursday, April 30, 2015) at Speedway (formerly Hess Express) in Tamaqua.
Last night, Ed Smith, scratched number 34 while playing the Triple Million rub-off game. That was the winning number that resulted in a $300,000 jackpot. After taxes, Smith will receive $225,000.
Smith, who operates his own medical transport business in Tamaqua, said the lottery winnings are already designated. “Family and loves ones come first,” boasted Smith. “Plus the winnings will help pay for needed upgrades for new medical transport vehicles.”
“I hope to have some money left over to take my first real vacation in 22 years,” added Smith, who celebrates his 58th birthday on May 29th.

My heart goes out to him. At least it sounds like he needed the money for good reason. I wish my luck could change like that. Congratulations to him!!
