DRIVER ESCAPES SERIOUS INJURY AFTER FLIPPING TRI-AXLE AND SNAPPING POLE IN RUSH TOWNSHIP; 18 PPL CUSTOMERS WITHOUT POWER

Overturned Triaxle, Fairview Street, Holly Road, Rush Township, 4-5-2015 (32)Fairview Street, between Pine Creek Drive and Church Road, is currently closed while PPL crews repair a power line and pole snapped by an overturned tri-axle truck today (Monday, April 6, 2015) in Rush Township. Firefighters said the driver escaped serious injury.
Emergency personnel were called to the intersection of Holly Road and Fairview Street just before 11 AM for a report of an overturned tri-axle and snapped pole with minor injury. Rush Township Police Sergeant Duane Frederick said the crash threw over 20 tons of black coal silt on the roadway. He added that the driver was traveling south on Fairview Street when he lost control, hit an embankment and overturned the truck.
Responding were Hometown Fire Company, Ryan Township Fire Company, Quakake Fire Company, Rush Township Police, Ryan Township Ambulance and others.
As of 1:30 PM, police, firefighters and fire police volunteers were still limiting vehicle and foot traffic in the area while PPL crews work to replace the snapped pole and reattaches a high voltage power line separated from the pole.
According to PPL’s website, 18 customers were without power as of 1:30 PM.
In addition, Hometown and Delano Fire Police volunteers are staged on Fairview Street at the intersections of Pine Creek Drive and Church Road.
The road is expected to stay closed for over 4 hours while crews remove the tri-axle and repair the pole.
