William Weaver, President of Rabbit Run Fish & Game Association in Tamaqua, is asking the public for donations after trout and equipment was stolen from their hatchery and tool shed.
Last June, thieves stole over 100 large trout from the hatchery, which is located on the site. In addition, the shed was broken into and equipment stolen, to include a generator, gas burners, tools and other items. No one was arrested for the crime.
Saturday, May 2, 2015 will serve as Rabbit Run’s 47th Annual Kids Derby. Even though Weaver said they will have the derby no matter what, he added that volunteers are hoping to raise enough donations to make up for what was stolen, upcoming derby trophies/prizes and needed breast work to the dam.
Send donations to William Weaver, 207 Race Street, Tamaqua PA 18252. Make checks payable to “Rabbit Run Fish & Game Association”.
