Join hundreds of other spectators New Year’s Eve during the annual Tamaqua Eagle Rise scheduled Wednesday night (December 31, 2014) in front of the ABC Hi Rise.
The first community New Year’s celebration occurred in 1998 and has continued since.
Linda Yulanavage, executive director, Tamaqua Area Chamber of Commerce, stated the event is family-friendly and all are encouraged to watch and celebrate the new year.
In addition to the animated eagle-rise, spectators will be able to watch a live feed from New York City of Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve With Ryan Seacrest on a large projection screen.
The A.B.C. Hi Rise, the area’s tallest building (174-feet-high), is located at 222 East Broad Street.
One block of US209 will be closed during the event, to allow for the large turnout of spectators.
Yulanavage said some spectators will be given environmentally safe balloons to be released during the event.
DJ Shawn Frederickson will serve a festive music entertainer during the event.
The rising eagle display is done every year by Frank Fabrizio, who is known best for his large Brockton Light Display.
