SCHUYLKILL COUNTY VOLUNTEER FIREFIGHTERS ASSOCIATION CONVENTION SET FOR AUG. 17 – 23 IN POTTSVILLE; PARADE IS AUG. 23

The 60th Annual Schuylkill County Volunteer Firefighters Association (SVCFA) Convention is scheduled for Sunday, August 17, 2014 to Saturday, August 23, 2014 in Pottsville.
Events of the convention include a firefighters memorial service, line-of-duty deaths training seminar, quarterly delegates meeting, mug night, breakfast buffet, parade and post parade festivities.

SUNDAY, AUGUST 17, 2014:
Event 1: Memorial Service.
Location: Trinity Lutheran Church, 300 West Arch Street, Pottsville.
Time: 6 PM Mass.

Event 2: Reception following Service.
Location: Good Intent Fire Company, 7 North 2nd Street, Pottsville.
Time: Immediately following church service.

MONDAY, AUGUST 18, 2014:
Event: SCVFA Training Seminar.
Instructor: FDNY Battalion Chief John Salka.
Class: Fireground Responsibility Seminar.
Description: Seminar will examine actual line-of-duty deaths with a focus on what the “real” factors were that contributed to the death, and where the responsibility lies with the incident.
Location: Sovereign Majestic Theater, 209 N Centre Street, Pottsville.
Time: 7:00 PM Class.

WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 20, 2014:
Event: SCVFA Quarterly Delegates Meeting.
Location: Hillcrest Catering Hall, 631 Minersville/Llewellyn Highway, Pottsville.
Time: 6:30 PM meeting.

THURSDAY, AUGUST 21, 2014:
Event: Mug Night.
Location: West End Hose Company, 1217 West Market Street, Pottsville.
Time: Doors open at 6 PM.

SATURDAY, AUGUST 23, 2014:
Event 1: Breakfast Buffet at Humane Fire Company.
Location: 3rd & Laurel Boulevard, Pottsville.
Time: Breakfast available for purchase from 8 AM till 11 AM.

Event 2: 60th Annual SCVFA Parade.
Location: Pottsville.
Time: Parade begins at 1 PM.

Event 3: Post Parade Festivities.
Location: 1400 West Laurel Boulevard, Pottsville.
Time: Immediately following parade.
