According to WBRE TV, the body discovered around 5 PM yesterday (Saturday, June 21, 2014) in a wooded-area alongside Silver Creek Road in Blyth Township (near New Philadelphia) was that of Jason “Jay” Hahn, 22, of West Penn Township.
The story adds that 20-year old Ethan Sullivan, a friend of Hahn’s from St. Clair, was charged with criminal homicide in relation to the incident.
On Thursday, a close friend of Hahn told TamaquaArea.com that friends and family haven’t seen or heard from Hahn since last Saturday (June 14, 2014), when he supposedly left his home with Sullivan. According to family and friends, Sullivan, who was already incarcerated in Schuylkill County Prison on other charges, was the last known person seen with Hahn.
“He has never gone missing before,” said Derek Snyder, a close friend of Hahn, on Thursday.
In addition to posting flyers and contacting the medias, loved-ones spent the last week searching the woods and urban areas in hopes of finding Hahn.
Hahn was a 2012 graduate of Tamaqua Area High School, where he attained academic honors during his junior and senior year.
Online court documents show that Ethan Sullivan was arrested Wednesday (June 18, 2014) on charges connected to a burglary in East Norwegian Township. He was unable to post the $25,000 bail and was locked up in the Schuylkill County Prison. Early this morning, Sullivan, who remains in Schuylkill County Prison, was charged with criminal homicide, aggravated assault, robbery, simple assault, theft by unlawful taking and recklessly endangering another person.
