Do you have any items you want to get rid of or simply don’t need anymore?
This Saturday (April 26, 2014), members of the Tamaqua Volunteers community initiative group are looking for donations of clothing, toys, tools, electronics, holiday decorations, pots/pans/dishes, cookware, furniture, appliances and practically anything else.
The only items not accepted are televisions, computer monitors and obvious garbage. All donated items must be clean and odor-free.
Donations can be dropped off this Saturday between 8 AM and 9 AM at the M & M Self Storage facility located next to Schickram’s Car Wash (Rose Street) in Tamaqua. Volunteers stress that they are not able to pick up or store donations.
Any Tamaqua resident wanting to receive donations is encouraged to be there by 9 AM for the donation giveaway scheduled to start at 9:15 AM sharp. All items will then be given away free to residents via a drawing.
Any residents with a 18252 zip code, no matter their income, can take advantage of this giveaway. Anyone, no matter where you live, can drop items off.
In addition to the regular items, hundreds of used clean sheets, bed skirts and blankets will be given away. These bedding items, donated by the Comfort Inn in Hazleton to the Tamaqua Salvation Army, can be received by anybody (not just Tamaqua residents). Click HERE to view the donation story.
Volunteers state their appreciation to Thorn Cycle’s, M & M Self Storage and the Moyer family for donating the facility for the giveaway.
In case of rain, the event will be moved to Sunday, April 27, 2014 (same times).
The group holds the event every last Saturday of every warm month.
