FOOD DONATIONS NEEDED TODAY FOR SEARCH VOLUNTEERS IN COALDALE

submarine_sandwich_clip_artUPDATE:
Despite multiple requests and postings online… only 3 (three) people stopped by and donated food to the many volunteers searching the coal pockets and mountains around Coaldale for a missing man. Thank you to those three people!
——————————————–
Please donate food and drinks today (Saturday, February 1, 2014) to all the firefighters, search teams, police and others currently searching the mountains and coal pockets between Coaldale and Summit Hill.
Members of the Tamaqua Volunteers group have donated a few boxes of pizza, but can’t afford enough for all 35 volunteers.
Volunteers expect to remain searching until dark. If you are able to donate snacks, cold sandwiches, soups, pizza or drinks, please drop them off at the fire company anytime today. The fire company is located at 121 West High Street in Coaldale. Click HERE for directions.
If you can donate, please call the Tamaqua Volunteers group at (570) 668-1234 or simply drop off the food donation at the Coaldale Fire Company.

  2. I’m venting…
People are curious to know what is going on, but none are willing to help!? I am extremely disappointed.
I have 4,999 Facebook friends and 381 followers. Of course I don’t expect everyone to see all the posts. I also don’t expect everyone to donate. But seriously… Why did only three people care enough to stop or help? Why didn’t all those people asking questions or complaining last night help?!?!
FYI: The search is over and all the volunteers just left. They weren’t able to find the missing man. There will not be a ground search tomorrow.

  3. Very sad that no one was able to find the man who was missing and that few came by to donate. I didn’t even know a man was missing until late this afternoon and when I heard I shared the link and went to the store to pick up soups. It was getting dark so I didn’t get to donate tonight and planned to get down there first thing in the am tomorrow- but I see there isn’t a need anymore. God bless those who were knew what was needed and were able to help.

  4. […] A Tamaqua church, local businesses and a few other people stepped up to the plate yesterday (Sat. Feb. 1, 2014) by providing needed food donations to over three dozen volunteers who spent all daylight Saturday searching the mountains around Coaldale for a missing man. The Tamaqua Volunteers group was contacted Saturday morning by a member of the Coaldale Fire Company in hopes of acquiring food donations for all the volunteers. A donation campaign online by the Tamaqua Volunteer group resulted in only a few people donating. So members with the Tamaqua Volunteers group and the fire company decided to ask businesses and such for donations. Donating were Domino’s Pizza of Tamaqua, La Dolce Casa of Tamaqua, Trinity United Church of Tamaqua, Wal-Mart of Hometown, Tommy’s of Coaldale and Angela Theater of Coaldale. Volunteers stated their appreciation to all who donated. The missing man was identified as Corey Michael Samuels, 24, of Coaldale. Search crews spent Friday and Saturday looking for the missing man; sadly, without success. As of now, all ground searches have stopped. There are no future ground searches planned. The Coaldale Police Department encourages the public to contact their department or contact Schuylkill County Communication Center at (570) 668-6100 with any information.
