The Tamaqua Borough is working to replace their outdated nickel and dime parking meters with new electronic parking meters. As of today (Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2014), Tamaqua Borough workers have replaced most older nickel and dime parking meters with new 25-cent electronic quarter parking meters. Each quarter will provide 30 minutes of time. That doubles the rate of the old meters. People are required to place quarters in the meters between 9 AM and 5 PM.
Most areas have received new parking meters, with the exception of the area in and around the SR309 bridge work and areas where permit parking is available.
Tamaqua Borough council approved, in June of last year, the purchase of about 131 new electronic parking meters, at $102.50 a piece from POM Inc. (a COSTARS partner), via past allocated CDBG funding.
Kevin Steigerwalt, Tamaqua Borough Manager, said during Tuesday night’s borough council meeting that two meters have already jammed. Each meter comes with a one-year warranty.

I hope the limit on parking at the train station is more than two hours. I can understand wanting to turn over cars at the street meters but not at the train station.
