Two or more garbage workers were taken to the hospital after their garbage truck lost control down a steep hill, snapped a utility pole and crashed into a tree this morning (Friday, February 13, 2015) in the Dutch Hill section of Tamaqua. The incident, which involved a Tamaqua Transfer garbage truck, occurred around 6:30 AM on the East Elm Street hill, aka Snake Hill, near the intersection of Market Street.
Tamaqua area firefighters on scene said the driver of the truck told them he tried his best to keep the truck under control after the truck lost control at the top of the East Elm Street hill. They added that the truck continued down East Elm Street where it snapped a utility pole at the intersection of Market Street. It then continued through a snow bank along East Elm Street until it crashed into a tree.
They added that one of the workers jumped out of the truck after it snapped the pole and before it crashed into the tree.
According to one of the workers on the truck, the driver was able to prevent the truck from flipping on its side despite riding on half it’s tires at one moment. The driver’s actions probably prevented the truck from crashing into homes or garages at the bottom of the hill.
As of 7:45 AM, Tamaqua Fire Police had the top and bottom of East Elm Street and the top of the Market Street hill closed.
PPL crews were also on scene and are planning repairs. It is unknown how long the area will remain closed.
It is unknown if the cause was related to mechanical malfunction or ice.
Tamaqua Police are still investigating.

That’s crazy them trucks should be off the road along time ago the owner Larry and Paul will pay them off and get away with it like always them poor ppl works are still out there in the cold wether trying to fix that pole that place should be shut down or have to by new trucks where is dot oh that’s right got paid off everything is good lol them people lie so bad guess they dint get to take the truck away before the cops got there that’s what they are good for crash and roll to cover it up

This is why they need to get experienced drivers that have experience with curb side and he should have went up the hill so if he would had a problem with the air brakes he wouldn’t have had as bad as a promblem b/c he would have been on flat ground at the top of the hill and that’s from an a experienced driver that did that route for four years and never put a scratch on any thing ever but I learn form the best thank you

Yea Bert u where a good driver hope they pay for that and to bad the truck came down market st hit the hill by the stop sing then was faceing down and hit the pole and then the tree all they trucks are kick am stick from the towing place in west pen u should kno that u took one there for them that place is a dump they should be shut down before some one gets killed and yes they do pay them off they got the cash all of them lets get rid if them for good they pay by the run its not a job it’s a shit job for no pay 259 a wk in tamaqua and can be out all day if I was in that truck I would be loaded lol lets hope the driver had a Cdl lol and hope they never bring u back lol or there will be a good crash just like they got away with everything alse when they crash or whatever lol what a dump shut them down

Oh check this out mike it’s funny watching all of these accidents happening, like that one on elm st. and all those poles they be hitting and snapping them. I’am glad I stopped working there b/c they pay shit money and lie about everything and Jr is a fucken pussy that mother fucker try to get me to run into the back of his trailor but he wasn’t good enough. he should have not under estimated me b’c I laughed at him and said you ain’t that good. Oh I must have really pissed some one off lol. I’am tired of there games weight to they see who’s coming next It’s going to be very funny,they don’t know who they fucked with but they will in time lol. Oh there will be many more accidents this winter b/c I looked into my crystal balls and I see many bad things happening this winter b/c I see how the new drivers drive and it’s pretty sloppy lol. Oh Jr should come face me like a man not like a pussy that he is, tell him I’ll be waiting for him Larry and Paul ain’t going to help him lol. At least I know how far he will go to try and get even with me for speaking the truth. there is no heaven for people like this he’s going straight to hell along with Larry and paul and many others I would think b/c karma is a bitch
