
Firefighters were called around 2 PM today (Sunday, October 18, 2015) to the 1200 block of Walnut Street in Ashland for a report of a working structure fire. They arrived to see a three-story property fully engulfed in flames. The structure at 1234 Walnut Street was completely destroyed, while the adjacent properties at 1236 and 1238 suffered major damage.
In addition, a home across the street sustained heat damage as some of its siding melted.
It was initially reported as entrapment, but later retracted. Although a firefighter was said to be injured.
Ashland Fire Chief Philip Groody said over a dozen different fire companies responded to help contain the three alarm fire.
Volunteers with the American Red Cross were on scene assisting those displaced.
A State Police fire marshal is expected to be on scene Monday to determine the cause.
