PRESS RELEASE – Schuylkill Haven Recreation Department and Schuylkill County Trout Unlimited are proud to announce a partnership to promote youth fishing in Schuylkill Haven.
The partnership will begin with a Lend A Rod Program in Schuylkill Haven and expand in the future to classes.
Schuylkill Haven Recreation Department will administer the fishing rods to children who are learning to fish, can’t afford a fishing rod, or just want to give fishing a try. Children can get a fishing rod at the Recreation Office by coming with a parent or guardian and filling out a form. There is NO cost to receive the rod however, it is while supplies last. The only condition is that is the child uses the fishing rod respectfully and bring the rod back to the Recreation Department in close to the same shape it was received it. If that is accomplished then another child will be able to use the rod in the future.
Schuylkill County Trout Unlimited will support and supply the Recreation Department with rods and materials for the children. Trout Unlimited is excited to expand fishing to southern Schuylkill County and plans to offer classes and other events in the Schuylkill Haven area.
Schuylkill Haven has fishing opportunities within the town limits at Bubeck Park in Stoyer’s Dam and also at the Island Park complex in the Schuylkill River.
