Family and friends held a spaghetti dinner fundraiser yesterday (Sunday, July 19, 2015) in Nesquehoning for Timothy “Tim” Whitehead, who suffered multiple injuries after a single-motor-vehicle accident on May 20, 2015 in Andreas (West Penn Township). Whitehead, a passenger, was ejected from the vehicle when it flipped. The driver suffered less-severe injuries.
Information from the event’s Facebook reads,”As a result Tim was in a coma for 2 weeks. He had sustained a severe brain injury as well as multiple fat embolisms in his brain and lungs which also led to a embolism stroke. He was put on a trach for breathing. He also had a broken back, pelvis, hip, femur, fibia, tibia that he had surgeries on which now leaves him with plates, screws and rods. Tim went through varies procedures and surgeries and still will have to at some point in time. He also has to under go extensive rehab for his brain and orthopedic areas. Tim is unable to work and no benefits and alot of his medication is not covered. So we will be hosting a few benefits to help tim with medical bills, and medication he may need, doctors visits he must pay, any co-pay he would have, as well as any day to day living spending he shall need for himself and his 6 year old daughter since tim is unable and may not be able to return to.work for a long period of time.”
Spaghetti benefit organizers stated their appreciation to Meed’s United Methodist Church and their Community Dinner Club for donating the event location and food.
