A Tamaqua man was killed Thursday night (July 16, 2015) during a two-vehicle accident involving a black pickup truck and tractor-trailer on Penn Drive (SR443) in West Penn Township. The crash occurred in the area of 850 Penn Drive, between the intersections of Villas Crossing Road and Valley Park, around a soft bend in the road. Wording on the tractor-trailer read NEMF (New England Motor Freight).
Paul J. Moyer, 36, was pronounced dead at the scene at 11:25 p.m. by Schuylkill County Deputy Coroner David Truskowsky, Mahanoy City.
A medical helicopter was originally dispatched but later canceled.
Responding were West Penn Police, State Police, West Penn Fire Company, Penn Mahoning Ambulance and others.
Fire Police volunteers from West Penn Fire Company and Carbon County redirected traffic away from the area while police investigated.
