According to PPL’s online power outage map, 3,624 customers throughout Schuylkill County are without power as 5:50 PM today (Saturday, June 27, 2015). The county is currently the highest county with the number of outages. The second being Monroe County with 1,689 customers without power. Carbon County lists only 1 customer without power.
Of that, 2,766 were in Hegins Township, 680 were in Rush Township, 80 were in Barry Township, 77 were in Walker Township, 22 were in Butler Township and 21 were in Blythe Township.
Some businesses without power along SR309 include all shops at HT Commons Plaza (Wal-Mart), Skipper Dippers and One Stop Gas Station.
Firefighters and fire police from Hometown Fire Company and Quakake Fire Company worked in the rain to connect emergency generators to traffic lights at two intersections, SR309/Tide Road and SR309/Ben Titus Road.

More talk on Facebook states that the cause of Rush Township’s power outage was a fallen branch along Fairview Street.
As you drive along major roads, you could see a large number of fallen branches from trees, the most probable cause for these outages.
Repair crews could be seen traveling both direction on SR309 in Hometown. Talk from those affected on Facebook said that power in Rush Township is expected to be restored sometime between 5 PM and 9 PM tonight, if weather permits. Walker Township is expected to have power restored by around 10 PM.
