Due to Monday’s geomagnetic storm from a solar flare, Tamaqua (and the rest of Pennsylvania) might get a small glance of the Aurora Borealis, aka Northern Lights, late tonight (Tuesday, June 23, 2015) into Wednesday morning.
Online advice states that the lights can come and go at various times between dusk to dawn up to Thursday or so. Although sightings predictions vary greatly online, census appears to be between 10 PM and 2 AM tonight and Wednesday.
Online experts added to get a good view of the lights, there has to be very little light pollution. Clouds, a bright moon, or city lights can hinder observation of the lights.
