TAMAQUA AREA RELAY FOR LIFE RAISES OVER $50,000; WALKERS TRAVELED OVER 2,100 MILES

Relay For Life, Day 1 of 2, TASD Sports Stadium, Tamaqua, 6-19-2015 (578)bOver $50,000 was raised via 387 participants from 35 teams during Friday and Saturday’s Relay For Life for Tamaqua & Surrounding Communities.
Event coordinator Rosalee Rehrig DO stated her appreciation to all the participants, sponsors, committee members and supporters.
Relay lap tracker volunteer coordinator Dave Rehrig said a total of 8,657 laps (2,164.25 miles) were tracked via his specially designed system.
This year’s individual walk winners were:
• Youth:  Quintin Swolensky with 86 laps (21.5 miles)
• Teen:  Branin Reber and Christian Westpy tied with 176 laps (44 miles)
• Adult:  Mel Bailey with 150 laps (37.5 miles)
• Senior:  Linda Whetstone with 82 laps (20.5 mile)
This year’s team winners were:
• Crusader’s for a Cure was the top team with 1855 laps (463.75 miles)
• Praying for a Cure had the highest team average with 55.71 laps per team member.
