
Members of Tamaqua’s Varsity Track and Field Team were recognized by the Tamaqua Borough Council during their regular public meeting held Tuesday, June 16, 2015 at the borough hall.
Receiving a Certificate of Achievement during the meeting were Morgan Boyle, Monika Shimko, Victoria LaBar, Chelsea Frantz, and Janette Kabana (who was unable to attend the meeting).
Morgan Boyle – in recognition of winning a Gold Medal in the Girls’ Javelin at the PIAA District XI Class AA Track and Field Championship on May 12-13, 2015. Boyle took first place with a throw of 133 feet, 7 inches. She also placed sixth in the Girls’ Javelin at the PIAA State Championships throwing 133 feet, 11 inches.
Monika Shimko – in recognition of winning a Gold Medal in the Girls’ 800M Run at the PIAA District XI Class AA Track and Field Championship on May 12-13, 2015 with a time of 2:24.60. Shimko also earned Gold in the Girls 4x800M Relay. She and her teammates finished the relay in 10:02.31.
Victoria LaBar – in recognition of winning a Gold Medal in the Girls’4x800M Relay at the PIAA District XI Class AA Track and Field Championship on May 12-13, 2015. She and her teammates finished the relay in 10:02.31.
Chelsea Frantz – in recognition of winning a Gold Medal in the Girls’4x800M Relay at the PIAA District XI Class AA Track and Field Championship on May 12-13, 2015. She and her teammates finished the relay in 10:02.31.
Janette Kabana – in recognition of winning a Gold Medal in the Girls’4x800M Relay at the PIAA District XI Class AA Track and Field Championship on May 12-13, 2015. She and her teammates finished the relay in 10:02.31.
