Volunteers estimated that over 600 community members and visitors attended the Kicking Cancer’s Butt for Sheila Brensinger benefit yesterday (Saturday, June 13, 2015) at the Community Fire Company’s Grove in New Ringgold. Brensinger, age 48, was recently diagnosed with stage-4 lung cancer and bone cancer. A mother, daughter and sister, Brensinger is most known in the community for her New Ringgold beauty salon (Sheila’s Hair Magic) and her volunteerism at the New England/Walker Township Fire Company.
“Amazlingly, we sold out of our 500 wristbands half-way through the event,” said an emotional Emerich, event coordinator and close friend of Brensinger. “It was an outstanding turnout of support.”
The festive benefit included a large food buffet, horseshoe tournament, chance games, 200-prize Chinese Auction, 50/50, bake sale and kids bouncy house, was held via friends and family to help pay for medical costs not covered by insurance. In addition, visitors enjoyed live music courtesy of JUSTUS, DJ Plum Crazy (Kerry Hamm) and DJ Joe Dabashinsky.
Emerich, Brensinger’s family and other event volunteers, stated their indebtedness to all who sponsored and supported the event, to include band/DJ members, fire company, food/beer contributors, prize sponsors, community businesses/members and visitors.
Brensinger, holding back tears, stated her high appreciation towards to organizers, supporters, community members and all who attended the event.
