Most Cub Scouts celebrate Scouting Anniversary Week with a “birthday party” called the “Blue and Gold Banquet.” In nearly all packs, the banquet is the highlight of the year. It brings families together for an evening of fun and cheer. It’s often the pack meeting for February.
The purpose of the blue and gold banquet is to celebrate the pack’s anniversary, thank pack leaders and other adults who have helped the pack, and inspire the leaders, Scouts, and parents. Packs often like to invite former members and other Scouting or community leaders to take part in their blue and gold banquet.
Providing a FOS presentation during the program was Black Rock District Chairman Jerry Beaver.
Cub Master Robert Bachert provided the invocation, announcement and awards. The event also consisted of the Moving On Ceremony & Candle Lighting and Arrow of Light Ceremony.
Den Leaders recognized were Sheri Royer (Lion Den), Fallyn Brachman (Tiger Den), Trisha Rehrig (Wolf Den), Kim Steigerwalt (Bear Den), and Anne Girarde / Tara Nattress (Webelos 1 Den).
Also taking part in the program were Alex Steigerwalt, Stephen Bretzik, Nelson Bensinger, Craig Conville, Ethan Risteter and Ann Girard.
Event organizer Danielle Ems stated the pack’s appreciation to all the parents and volunteers. She added appreciations to Cheryl Kistler, Nicole Hill, Larry Bensinger, Larry Allen, Lauren Wall, Jesse Wall, Kevin Steigerwalt, Nathan Steigerwalt and Peter DeAngelo. Special thanks was given to St. John’s United Church of Christ.
