DRIVER ESCAPES SERIOUS INJURY AFTER DRIVING INTO WOODS ALONG HOMETOWN HILL

Car Into Woods, Hometown Hill, SR309, Hometown, 5-18-2015 (22)Narrowly missing a gauntlet of about a dozen trees, a driver escaped serious injury after crashing her car into the woods near the top of the Hometown Hill last night (Monday, May 18, 2015) in Hometown.
Around 11:31 PM, emergency personnel were called to the intersection of Claremont Avenue (SR309) and Holland Street for a report of a motor vehicle accident with unknown injury.
They arrived to see a blue Ford Focus hidden amongst the thick woods along the northbound lane of SR309. It appeared that the vehicle went off the road, nicked a road sign, crashed into the woods, ran over a small tree and bounced before finally stopping. There was heavy damage to the vehicle.
The female driver was treated by Tamaqua Ambulance. The extent of her injuries is unknown, but officials noted that she said she were fine.
Officials added that the wet roads might have attributed to the crash.
Responding were Hometown Fire Company, Tamaqua Ambulance, Rush Township Police and Hometown Fire Police.
Hope’s Towing utilized two of their tow trucks to remove the vehicle from the woods.
