CHARITY CHALLENGE HELD AT OWL CREEK IN TAMAQUA; NEXT EVENT SCHEDULED SEPTEMBER 5TH AT HEISLER’S

Charity Challenge 5K Walk, Run, Kids Fun Run, TAAR Dog Walk, 5-16-2015 (218)Organizers and volunteers with USA Martial Arts & Fitness in Tamaqua held their second annual Charity Challenge event on Saturday (May 16, 2015) at the Lower Owl Creek Dam in Tamaqua. The event, which benefited a charity chosen by the first place winner, included a 5K run/walk, kids 1-mile fun run and Tamaqua Area Animal Rescue Dog Walk. Numerous trophies and door prizes were also given away.
Placing first during the run were Jacob Krell, 22, of Tamaqua, with a time of 19:38, and Mary Everdale, 15, of Freeland, with a time of 20:35. Placing top during the Tamaqua Area Animal Rescue Dog Walk were Neil Pilston of Lewistown Valley with Roger, his 4-year-old male Doberman Pincher.

“The CHARITY CHALLENGE 5K “Run at the Reservoir” would like to offer a BIG THANK YOU to all of the runners, walkers, kids and dogs that participated in yesterday’s event at Owl Creek Reservoir just outside of Tamaqua. We had 125 participants and awarded over $750. to charities and non profit organizations, including the Tamaqua Animal Rescue. Our overall winners will be choosing their charity choice within a few days. We also want to THANK our generous sponsors and CC5K race staff for making it all happen. We are extremely grateful to our Race Staff for all of their efforts during the morning, even working in the rain during the first half hour of early set up. Fortunately, the sun came out just at the start of registration. AWESOME JOB RACE STAFF FOR RUNNING A GREAT EVENT!!!!”
