Sergeant Major of the Army Daniel A. Dailey, a Palmerton native who currently serves as the highest enlisted rank in the United States Army, was the guest speaker during last Saturday’s (May 2, 2015) Carbon County Safety Day held at Mauch Chunk Lake State Park.
Dailey became the 15th Sergeant Major of the United States Army on January 30, 2015. He is a combat veteran with four deployments to Operation Iraqi Freedom and one in support of Operation Desert Storm. He was a command sergeant major for most of those tours, responsible for training, leading, mentoring and developing Soldiers into leaders. He will succeed Sergeant Major of the Army Raymond F. Chandler, III, who has served in that position since March 2011.
Other dignitaries on-hand included Senator Yudichak, Senator Aument, Carbon County Commissioners Tom J. Gerhard, Wayne E. Nothstein, and William J. O’Gurek.
Numerous other state, county and local officials were also present during the program.
In addition, Dailey’s wife Holly accompanied him on this trip.
