A National Day of Prayer event was held yesterday (Thursday, May 7, 2015) at 12 PM outside the Tamaqua Borough Hall Building.
Tamaqua’s Bethany Evangelical Congregational Church hosted the event. This year’s theme was “Lord, Hear Our Cry,” based on 1 Kings 8:28.
A bill establishing the National Day of Prayer was signed in 1952 by U.S. President Harry S. Truman, to be set each year by the sitting president.
In 1988, the law was amended, establishing the first Thursday in May for the observance.
Pastor Kevin Roberts stated his appreciation to all who attended and supported the event.
