Tamaqua Area High School seniors Vanessa Solt and Jamie Mateyak were presented prestigious awards by TAMS/HS Band Director Mark E. Beltz during Tamaqua’s Spring Band Concert held April 23, 2015 at the Tamaqua Area Auditorium.
Mateyak earned the 2014-2015 John Philip Sousa Band Award. Established at ELCO High School in 1970, the John Philip Sousa Band Award is presented to the outstanding graduating senior band member. The recipient must demonstrate the highest levels of dedication, loyalty, character, and discipline to the band program while achieving the highest musical standards required of instrumental music.
Solt earned the 2014-2015 Patrick S. Gilmore Band Award. Established in 2000, the Patrick S. Gilmore Band Award is presented to an outstanding graduating senior band member demonstrating the greatest improvement in band. The recipient must demonstrate dedication, loyalty, character, and discipline to the band program while achieving the highest musical standards required of instrumental music.
