“STOMP OUT SUICIDE” WALK HELD IN MAHANOY CITY

Organizers and supporters held their 2nd annual “Stomp Out Suicide Walk” on Saturday, April 25, 2015 in Mahanoy City to benefit the Schuylkill County Suicide Prevention Taskforce (SCSPT). The free walk, which lasted from 12 PM to 3 PM, was held at the Mahanoy Area Alumni Field. Event included music, food for purchase, chinese auction and door prizes, as well as children’s activities, and a bake sale.
“Every family has been touched by the lost of a loved one,” said event coordinator Susan Moyer and SCSPT member. “Sadly many think of suicide as a taboo topic.”
Christine Wiekrykas, board member, National Alliance on Mental Illness, Pennsylvania (NAMI-PA), wants everyone to know that there are numerous organizations out there that offer support and help during or after a suicide.
Moyer added her appreciation to all who participated and supported the event.
