Reaching all 50 states and 23 countries, a Tamaqua Area Elementary School teacher’s map project continues to go viral after receiving over 1,500 postcards.
Last month, Tamaqua Elementary School third grade teacher Jolene Barron and her students started a postcard project that encouraged friends and family living in other states to send postcards to the class.
Barron said the map project serves as a fun way to help her social studies students learn about all the states.
The project started when she asked her friends and family on social media for postcards from each of the 50 states.
“It has been amazing to see how the public wants to get involved in the schools,” said Barron. “The outpouring of support has been amazing.”
In addition to all 50 states, Barron said her class has received postcards from 23 countries.
“The kids really enjoy the project,” added Barron.
The story has earned media attention both local and afar as local news coverage has been shared around the nation. (WNEP TV) (WBRE TV) (Times News) (T102).
