Veterans and community members came together on Saturday (April 18, 2015) at Ludlow Park in Summit Hill during the unveiling of a new memorial placed in dedication of all waterborne veterans of the United States Navy, Coast Guard, Marine Corps and wartime Merchant Marines.
Robert “Ski” Siesputowski, of the Carbon County Navy Club, coordinated the event.
Speaking during the event were State Representative Jerry Knowles, Brad Hurley of Senator John Yudichak’s office, Summit Hill Mayor Paul McArdle, Navy Club Commander Scott Reinhart, Carbon County Veterans Affairs Director Henry Desrosiers, Past National Commandant of the Navy Club of the USA William Flail and others.
Members of the Panther Valley JROTC also performed a flag raising during the program.
Also participating in the program, were members of the Summit Hill American Legion, Nesquehoning American Legion, Lansford American Legion, Lansford American Legion Riders, singer Angela Nardini and others.
The memorial reads:
“Summit Hill Borough and the Carbon County Navy Club Honors All Waterborne Veterans Past, Present and Future…”
