A husband and wife riding together on a motorcycle were injured yesterday (Saturday, April 18, 2015) in Walker Township after trying to avoid a dog in the road. The incident occurred on Valley Road around 12 PM – about a quarter mile south of the Mountain Road/Wildcat Road intersection.
A helicopter landed at a field adjacent to the Walker Township Municipal Building to transport the woman to a hospital. Firefighters said she fell in and out of consciousness.
The driver of a car in front of them said she saw the dog jump in front of the motorcycle. The dog was hit but ran off after the impact.
This was the second motorcycle accident on Valley Street in the township in less that 15 hours. Around 9:10 PM Friday night, a man was taken to the hospital after crashing his motorcycle on Valley Road – about one mile north of this location.
Responding were Tamaqua Rescue Squad, Walker/New England Fire Company, West Penn Fire Company, New Ringgold Ambulance, Tamaqua Ambulance, State Police and others.
