CREWS BATTLING LARGE BRUSH FIRE IN EAST PENN TOWNSHIP; TAMAQUA’S SOUTH WARD FORESTRY CREW DISPATCHED

Three helicopters and multiple forest crews are being used to fight a large brush fire up a mountain in East Penn Township this afternoon (Saturday, April 18, 2015). Witnesses said flames are reaching as high as 40 feet in the air.
The fire was first spotted around 2:30 PM just off West Sunset Road.
Tamaqua’s South Ward Fire Company’s Forestry Crew was dispatched at 5:15 PM to help battle the fire.
