PRESS RELEASE – On Saturday, April 25, 2015 the Tamaqua YMCA is celebrating YMCA’s Healthy Kids Day as part of a national initiative to improve the health and well-being of kids and families.
– YMCA’s Healthy Kids Day will include fun active play and educational activities to keep kids moving and learning, in order to maintain healthy habits and academic skills to achieve goals and reach their full potential.
– Millions of children and their families are expected to participate in YMCA’s
Healthy Kids Day at more than 1,300 events across the country.
– The Y is adopting Healthy Eating and Physical Activity (HEPA) standards in early childcare and afterschool programs to build a healthier future for our nation’s children.
Our Y has made the commitment. At the YMCA’s Healthy Kids Day, you will have the opportunity to experience and learn about many healthy alternatives. We will have a Zumba Kids class geared towards 5-8 year olds, a youth soccer clinic, a bike demo compliments of DnA bikes in Tamaqua. Klock Designs Custom Skatedeck Company will be on-hand to show the benefits and fun of skateboarding and longboarding. We will also have some healthy snack samples to taste and to purchase from Beth Marcavage of Shaklee and Meg Zukus (certain sales will be donated to the National Eating Disorder Association NEDA).
This event will be from 12-2 pm and will be free to the public. I welcome everyone from the community to come and participate in the yearly event!
