
Traffic was backed-up for a short this afternoon (Tuesday, March 24, 2015) after an oversized load carrying a large piece to a Euclid coal hauler impacted a utility pole and knocked down a large wire on US209 between Tamaqua and Coaldale. The incident occurred around 1 PM today.
The load traveled south on US309 and then turned north on US209 at the Five Points intersection in Tamaqua.
Officials on scene added that the destination was less than 2 miles away.
No injuries were observed.
Officials added that the lines were mostly internet and communication lines, not power lines.
Traffic is kept moving in both directions while officials detour traffic around the wires.
Responding were Coaldale and Tamaqua fire departments, Tamaqua Police, State Police and others.
