A FUN STORE IN NEW RINGGOLD

Most people driving through New Ringgold in Schuylkill County probably never knew that there was a fun store in the town. What looks like a well-maintained cabin from the outside is actually a gadget-lover’s paradise and an adventure in retail.
The Nature and Discovery Store Inc. has all sorts of items – ranging from science, nature, magic, games, gadgets and other “cool” stuff.
Operated by owner Joe Mistishen and sister/manager Joanie Mistishen-Hollenbach, the store draws customers from all over.
Joe Mistishen, who also works full-time as a foreman in Hamburg, said he started his business in 1999 at other locations on a whim and has prospered since. He is married and has a girl in high school and boy in college.

While in the store, 1-year-old Jensen Long surrounds himself with bubbles he can touch. He is the son of Edward and Courtney Long of Ashland.

“Here, people can learn through doing and have fun in the process,” said Mistishen, a past boy scout. “I love science. It keeps our minds working and kids interested.”
Store hours are Wednesday to Sunday from 11 AM to 5 PM.
