Pictured is a submitted photo of three shopping carts today (Thursday, March 19, 2015) littered in front of 225 Pine Street in Tamaqua.
Members of the Tamaqua Volunteers community group, who routinely pick up and return littered carts, state that some local residents choose not to return the carts to the store. The group added that they understand that some residents don’t have vehicles, but stress the importance of returning the carts.
“A littered shopping cart results in littered blight that affects the appearance of the entire neighborhood,” said the group president. “They should treat their neighborhood as it is – their home.”
If you see someone leaving shopping carts at a location and not returning them, remember to take video and post it on Facebook or send it to TamaquaArea.com via text at (570) 668-1234 or email at newstip@tamaquaarea.com. Remember to include the location.
Also, call Tamaqua Boyer’s Food Market at (570) 668-2538 and one of their employees will retrieve the cart(s).
