
Students from Tamaqua, Marian, Panther Valley, Weatherly and Jim Thorpe high schools joined St. Luke’s Miners Campus physicians, administrators, Temple University School of Medicine students, post-graduate students and undergraduate students this evening (Thursday, March 12, 2015) during the St. Luke’s 7th Annual “Future Physicians Dinner” at Macaluso’s Restaurant in Nesquehoning.
During the event, high school students had the opportunity to discuss career paths, educational paths, practicing medicine at St. Luke’s, practicing in a rural environment, and work-life balance. They also learned more about the Temple University School of Medicine at St. Luke’s and residency programs.
Matt Zuber, a Tamaqua graduate, served as the Medical Student Liaison for the event.
High School students were identified by their school as having an interest in pursuing a career in medicine. Those students consisted of Rachel Meier, Marian HS; Alexandra Stroia, Marian HS; Jacob Saxon, Jim Thorpe HS; Joseph Plavin, Jim Thorpe HS; Amy Corby, Panther Valley HS; Brendan Morgans, Panther Valley HS; Zach Merenda, Tamaqua HS; Jacob Humes, Tamaqua HS; Beth Kistler, Tamaqua HS; Danielle DeCindio, Tamaqua HS; Paige Demetriades, Tamaqua HS; Brody Hydro, Lehighton HS; Falyn Weiss, Lehighton HS; Ashley Nunez, Weatherly HS; and others.
Undergraduates attending the event were Brendan Huffman and Nicole Murlo.
Post graduates were Allysa Vavra, Nick Talimonti and Mike Ritzick.
Medical students were Matt Zuber, Elizabeth Miller and Stephen Han.
Physcians & hospital administration were Bill Moyer, Rod Quiros, Chandra Reddy, Camille Eyvazzadeh, Dave Bohri, Kirth Steele, Neil Belman, Zubair Mohammed, Claudia Kupec, Jillian Fiorino, Drea Rosko, Micah Gursky and others.
