Since she was 4 years old, Joan Gibbons of Ringtown Valley has had a passion for helping people.
Gibbons, who also learned to crochet at age 6, credited her mother for teaching her at a young age. Items ranged from scarves, hats, outfits, lap robes, wash clothes, blankets and so on. “Family members tell me I walk in with a ball of yarn, and leave with a completed blanket,” said Gibbons.
Since she was a child, she estimated that she has knitted over 1,000 items for charities, hospitals, churches, veterans groups, and family members.
“Homemade items are becoming harder to find,” added Gibbons. “Each item I make is given with love.”
