WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY TUESDAY INTO WEDNESDAY; EXPECT 1 – 3 INCHES OF SNOW

This winter has brought cold temperatures and on-and-off snow showers. Sadly, the rest of this week will be no different. Expect 1 to 3 inches of snow Tuesday into Wednesday and an additional 1 to 3 inches of snow Thursday morning.
Today (Monday, March 2, 2015) will be cloudy and windy with temperatures dropping from 35 degrees at 2 PM to 9 degrees by 6 AM Tuesday.
On-and-off snow showers and freezing rain will start falling around 2 PM on Tuesday and turn to drizzling around 8 AM on Wednesday.
Thursday will be cold with about 1-3 inches of additional snowfall in the morning.
Friday calls for sunny weather and temperatures ranging from 13 to 27 degrees.
Average temperatures for Saturday and Sunday will be around 32 degrees.

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN STATE COLLEGE HAS ISSUED A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY FOR SNOW SLEET AND FREEZING RAIN… WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM 3 PM TUESDAY TO 4 AM EST WEDNESDAY.

* LOCATIONS… SOUTH CENTRAL AND CENTRAL MOUNTAINS… .LOWER TO MIDDLE SUSQUEHANNA RIVER VALLEY.

* HAZARD TYPES… SNOW MIXING WITH SLEET… THEN CHANGING TO FREEZING RAIN.

* ACCUMULATIONS… SNOW ACCUMULATION OF AROUND 1 INCH… FOLLOWED BY A TRACE TO UP TO A TENTH OF AN INCH OF ICE.

* TIMING… SNOW AND SLEET WILL DEVELOP BY MIDDAY… AND QUICKLY MIX WITH AND CHANGE TO FREEZING RAIN. A COMPLETE CHANGEOVER TO RAIN IS LIKELY OVER MUCH OF THE SOUTH CENTRAL MOUNTAINS AND LOWER SUSQUEHANNA RIVER VALLEY
