TamaquaArea.com just received a news tip this evening (Thursday, February 26, 2015) about a cruise line calling a Tamaqua resident and offering a free cruise. The resident was asked to pay about $59 for port fees and such. The phone number on the caller ID (570-232-xxxx) showed it originating from Shenandoah.
When TamaquaArea.com called the number, an automated service answered the call. After answering yes that I had a credit card, the call was forwarded to a male operator, who stated he was from Florida. After kindly asking for proof of their service, the phone call was disconnected.
