To stay up-to-date with local stories and photos, TamaquaArea.com is looking for motivated individuals to help us with the website.
All positions are volunteer and open to anybody wanting to donate time to Tamaqua and surrounding communities by sharing important events, photos, videos and local happenings. No experience is necessary and training is provided.
Positions needed are:
(SEVEN) COMMUNITY NEWS PHOTOGRAPHERS / VIDEOGRAPHERS
This position primarily involves taking photos and/or video of events and local happenings and emailing them to TamaquaArea.com reporters or assistant editors. No story-writing is required.
– Requires 4 or more hours a week.
– Applicants must own a camera OR good quality cell phone camera.
– No experience necessary. All ages welcome. Training will be provided.
* Photographers and videographers will be given name credit with the photos and/or videos they submit.
(FIVE) COMMUNITY NEWS REPORTERS
This position involves taking photos/video and doing in-depth story-writing concerning important community matters and submitting them to an assistant editor.
– Requires 5 or more hours a week (or two stories).
– Applicants must own a camera OR good quality cell phone camera.
– No experience necessary. Must be 18 and older. Training will be provided.
* News reporters will be given story byline credit for every story they submit, as well as name credit for any photos or videos they submit.
(THREE) NON-PROFIT EVENT REPORTERS
This position primarily involves finding, researching, receiving and submitting event stories before the event happens. Stories are not required to be in-depth. This position also involves updating the website calendar daily.
– Requires 2 or more hours a day (4 days a week).
– Applicants must own a camera OR good quality cell phone camera.
– No experience necessary. All ages welcome. Training will be provided.
* Pre-event reporters will be given story byline credit for every story they submit, as well as name credit for any photos or videos they submit.
(THREE) MEETING PHOTOGRAPHERS/VIDEOGRAPHERS
This position primarily involves taking one or two photos and recording videos of local municipal OR school district OR organizational meetings and then uploading it to YouTube. Story-writing is not required.
– Requires 4 or more hours a week (or two meetings).
– Applicants must own video recording device and a camera OR good quality cell phone camera.
– No experience necessary. All ages welcome. Training will be provided.
* Photographers and videographers will be given name credit with the photos and/or videos they submit.
(TWO) ASSISTANT EDITORS
This position primarily involves assigning tasks and editing submitted work. It also involves website layout, public relations, organizing staff meetings and training new staff.
– Requires 3 or more hours a day (4 days a week).
– Applicants must own a camera OR cell phone with good camera.
– No experience necessary. Must be 18 or older. Training will be provided.
Requirements for all applicants:
– Must have respect and pride for everything Tamaqua. “We’ll post the bad news, but good news in priority!”
– Must continue to carry themselves in a respectable manner.
– Must have or create a Facebook account.
– Must have basic computer knowledge and regular access to one.
– Must pass a criminal background check and be (and remain) in good standing in the community.
