FOR MANY, WORKING IN THE COLD IS THEIR ONLY OPTION

Checking Meters in the Freezing Cold, Bud Comisac, Dutch Hill, Tamaqua, 2-10-2015 (2)Pictured recently is Tamaqua borough worker Bud Comisac using a handheld recorder to read water usage on a Dutch Hill home in the borough.
Like most outside jobs, this requires him to work in harsh temperatures – no matter how warm or cold.
When asked about the cold weather, Comisac didn’t complain and said that this is normal for him.
In addition to serving as Tamaqua Water Department’s water meter reader, Comisac also maintains the borough’s parking meters.
In April, he replaced David “Chip” Christ in this position, following Christ’s retirement.
Comisac said previously, on some days, he estimates that he walks about 8 miles a day. Comisac’s route includes all areas that receive water from Tamaqua’s Water Department; to include the Tamaqua Borough, Rush Township, Reevesdale, Newkirk, areas of West Penn Township and a section of Walker Township.
