Below are photos and a quick video from this morning’s (Saturday, February 14, 2015) overturned tractor-trailer on Interstate 81 that closed both northbound lanes for about 2 hours.
Emergency personnel were called around 12:45 AM to Interstate 81 near mile marker 130.5 (just south of the Mahanoy City/Hometown exit) for an overturned tractor-trailer blocking both northbound lanes.
Officials on scene said the driver was able escape with little injuries.
Interstate 81 northbound was closed for about two hours while crews from Hope’s Towing removed the tractor and trailer.
Northbound traffic was backed-up about a mile, before being detoured off the Interstate at the Frackville-Pottsville exit (SR61).
Responding were State Police at Frackville, and firefighters and EMS from Mahanoy City and others.
