Information on the Facebook event page reads:
Free Range Folk was brought together by their shared interests in farming, family, and a general love of the outdoors and music. They are a family band – some members are tied by marriage (Kevin & Sara, Josh & Amber), others by blood (Kevin & Dan are brothers), but all members have a genuine love and respect for one another both on and off stage, which shines through in their sound. Their harmonies, banjo, and mandolin often invoke the old-time bluegrass sound, but with the added flavor of influences that vary from The Band and Bob Dylan to The Meters, The Cure, The Violent Femmes, Fugazi, & beyond. Their versatile sound is owing in part to their eclectic choice of instruments including musical saw, boom-bah, washboard and trumpet among others. Although their songs sometimes touch on serious subjects, Free Range Folk prefers to stay cheerful and lighthearted, knowing that humor is the best approach. Their shows are focused on having a great time, letting loose, and loving and appreciating friends & family.
Free Range Folk has opened for nationally touring bands including David Wax Museum, Hot Buttered Rum, Greensky Bluegrass, The Youngers, Farewell Drifters and performed live studio concert on the nationally syndicated “Folk Show” on Philadelphia’s WXPN radio
featured in Our Town; Jim Thorpe documentary and performed live on WVIA television.
