WIND CHILL ADVISORY THURSDAY EVENING TO NOON ON FRIDAY; EXPECT MINUS 15 DEGREE TEMPERATURES FRIDAY MORNING

tamaqua wind chill advisory cold chilly winds warningThursday’s (February 12, 2015) weather will include off-and-on snow flurries after 3 PM, and include the possibility of a quick snow shower in the evening. Temperatures for Thursday will remain around freezing most of the day and decrease rapidly Thursday evening into Friday morning.
On Friday, normal temperatures will range between 1 and 15 degrees, bringing wind chills colder than minus 10 degrees for most of the morning.
Saturday will include a 90 percent chance of snow showers and temperatures ranging between 5 and 31 degrees. Expect under 1 to 2 inches of snow accumulation.
Sunday’s weather calls for normal temperatures reaching minus 3 degrees. In addition, northwest winds could reach up to 23 MPH.
Monday will bring sunny weather and temperatures ranging from 8 degrees to 18 degrees.
The National Weather Service in State College issued and Wind Chill Advisory for our area from 7 PM Thursday to 12 PM Friday.

  • * HAZARD TYPES… DANGEROUS WIND CHILLS.

  • * WIND CHILLS… 15 TO 20 DEGREES BELOW ZERO.

  • * IMPACTS… FROSTBITE TO EXPOSED SKIN IN 30 MINUTES.

  • PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

  • IF YOU WILL BE OUTDOORS… DRESS IN LAYERS AND WEAR A HAT AND GLOVES. YOUNG CHILDREN… THE ELDERLY AND THE HOMELESS ARE ESPECIALLY VULNERABLE TO THE COLD. APPROPRIATE ACTION SHOULD BE TAKEN TO ENSURE PETS HAVE ADEQUATE PROTECTION FROM THE COLD TEMPERATURES.
